My personal involvement in community activities and my interests also reflect the nature of my business – being of service and creating beauty. Personally and professionally, we strive to enhance our surroundings by what we’ve learned, the creative gifts we’ve been given, and our desire to share. Current involvement includes:

Pierce County Master Gardener
As an active Master Gardener, I spend time helping to educate and advise home gardeners in our community. Objectives of our Pierce County Master Gardener Program include:
External
- Educate the community in various aspects of gardening utilizing the Washington State University Puyallup Research & Extension Center science-based gardening information.
- Answer garden related questions at the helpline and in the community.
- Provide home gardeners living in Pierce County with science-based gardening information through workshops, community events, and speaking engagements.
Internal
- Train volunteers to accomplish the mission of the Master Gardener Program
- Provide Master Gardeners with hands-on training and experiences to reinforce and extend information learned in the classroom
- Seek out and encourage volunteers for the Master Gardener Program.
- Identify, support and develop sites for gardening training, demonstrations, and community outreach and involvement.
- Support the Washington State University Puyallup Research & Extension Center in conducting agricultural research projects.
Many newcomers and inexperienced gardeners are in great need of gardening and landscaping advice. Our informative training provides assistance needed to diagnose plant problems and give the confidence to share expertise with others. If you choose to go through the training required to become a Master Gardener, you will have the opportunity to work with school children, teachers, seniors, community gardeners and homeowners. You can develop public speaking skills or learn to use computers and other technologies.

Root & Bloom Garden Club
This local, fun group is a member of the Hill & Dale District Garden Clubs and the Washington State Federation of Garden Clubs. There are 14 districts in Washington State with over 130 Garden Clubs. The Mission Statement of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. is to provide education, resources and national networking opportunities for its members to promote the love of gardening, floral design, civic and environmental responsibility.
